Dr. Benigno Glenn R. Ricaforte, a registered microbiologist, was educated in the University of the Philippines and De La Salle University Manila. He was the former chair of the Master of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management (MSTHM) program of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde from 2012-2019 wherein he pioneered a flexible learning delivery mode. At present, he is a Full Professor at the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management of the same institution — a testament of his excellent track records in instruction, research and extension.
Professionally, he was the former National President of the Philippine Society for Microbiology, Inc. (PSM) and currently one of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Association of Researchers for Tourism and Hospitality, Inc (PARTH). As an associate member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), his research interest includes food security, sustainability, and education. He is also a member of Technical Working Group for the Philippine Tourism Value Chain under the Philippine Department of Tourism. He is a prolific scholar and his latest textbook, “Risk Management as Applied to Safety, Security and Sanitation” is now available in the Philippine market — a textbook which is ready for flexible learning delivery. He was able to crack a top tiered Clarivate Analytics – Scopus journal through his research article, “The If of Teaching”. As for his extension activities, he is a volunteer facilitator for the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System (ALS) and a cultural worker volunteer on heritage management.
