Mr Steve Hood from the STR SHARE Center will provide an update on the global hotel industry. We will review the impact of the coronavirus on countries and markets around the world and drill down into specific areas like China, Asia, Europe and the Americas. This is the second in the series of updates on the impact of COVID on hotel performance that is being presented jointly by STR and APacCHRIE.
Up-to-date performance metrics will be shared, including some early signs of recovery. We will discuss past economic cycles, prior events like SARS, recovery scenarios, lessons to be learned and industry takeaways.
There will be time for brainstorming related to research opportunities. The brainstorming session will be moderated by Dr Qu Xiao of School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and also APacCHRIE Past President. Instructions will be provided for professors who would like to obtain personalized data for research or if people would like to receive regular updates.
