Lawrence Hoc Nang Fong received his Ph.D. in Hotel and Tourism Management from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is an Associate Professor of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management at the University of Macau. Since July 2021, he has been serving as the secretary of Asia-Pacific CHRIE (a federation of International CHRIE). While he identifies himself as a tourism and hospitality scholar, his dream of doing something impactful motivates him to let his students shine and to continuously advance knowledge through his research.

Lawrence’s two major research interests are consumer psychology and gambling behavior. His publications appear in leading tourism, hospitality, and gambling journals such as Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, International Journal of Hospitality Management, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management and Journal of Gambling Studies. He is also serving on the editorial board of renowned journals including Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Tourism Management Perspectives, Journal of Vacation Marketing, Journal of Information Technology and Tourism, Journal of Smart Tourism, and International Gambling Studies. He has also guest-edited special issues in International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management and Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research.

In addition to academic works, Lawrence has rich experience in doing consultancy projects commissioned by the Macau S.A.R. Government. These projects were in the areas of sustainability of gaming and tourism industries in Macao, responsible gambling, and social and economic impacts of gambling activities. Since 2017, he has been serving as a member of the Economic Development Council (Macau S. A. R. Government).
